Now,just about everyone over the age of 12 has got to know this classic Nicholson flick

Most Horror films don't scare me at allNightmare on Elm Street,Hostel,Saw,Critters,The Ring-I laughed or slept my way through them all

But The Shining  That one left me cowering in the corner first time I saw it and still seriously creeps me out to this day, some 20 yrs later.Nicholson as Our Johnny and those twin girls...

Fantastic film, one every horror buff should definately have in their collection

I remember Jack Nicholson's version and a recent one as well. They both rock. It's the kind of movie I love to see at night and that will have me make an ass out of myself by jumping at every shadow, turning all the lights at home (as if strange things won't happen in the light too. lol), and run from one place to another. lol

Ahhh, The Shining. One of my favorite books and movies, not the one you think however. I know I may come under fire for this but..... Being a huge fan of the book, I was greatly disappointed by the "classic" film. In contrast, in my humble opinion the "new" version is perfect! Steven Webber is Jack Torrance. The story is about the descent into madness and you side with Steven's portrayal. That bond makes it scary. Not to mention the bond between father and son that brings the emotions into the picture. Nicholson's version, well, he is crazy to begin with. And the family doesn't feel like a "family". That makes it scary for a totally different reason. If Kubrick would have changed the name and characters, I would have loved it. The "new" version makes ghosts and madness tangible , "real", and beautiful. Where the "classic" make the whole thing feel surreal and far fetched. Many feel I am wrong on this, but hey, that's why they have different flavors of ice cream.
